Has anyone tried to make a pod from a 2 person sleeping bag?

Just wondering if anyone has made a "pod" style enclosure by just running a ridgeline through a 2 person sleeping bag, and hanging a hammock inside the suspended bag?

I'd get an Insulhammock if I had the funds to use as a fall/winter/early spring camping hammock, and am saving up for a decent UQ, but figured that if this would work, it'd be a stop gap for this season, which would buy me enough time to gather more gear.

Actually, it does work rather well! I put together 2 military bags just to use as a pod. They zipped together and I had lots of room. It was very warm.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

So, you're talking about skipping the hammock entirely, and just stringing up a sleeping bag and climbing into it?
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.

Thank you Lost Biker (love your sig line btw).

iRokk - No, hanging my hammock inside a 2 person sleeping bag. Figured it'd work like a pod system, heating the air around the hammock, with no compression.

I'm thinking I'm going to try it out at my troop's outing next month, and if it works well, suggesting it to some of the scouts that are trying to gear up on a budget.

Oh, sorry. I only speak 2 languages - English and bad English - guess which one I used for that post.

Actually, I didn't read his post carefully - Yeah, he wants to use 2 bags with no hammock. I used 2 bags with a hammock.

I don't believe you can suspend just 2 sleeping bags efficiently. You will compress the insulation on whatever you lie on and will suffer CBS.

In that case, it will work. Actually, a single bag - if large enough (wide) can go around the hammock and you if not put over the ridgeline.

    Here's a great post on pods : https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=35397

I've modified cheap military surplus bags to be used as pods - it's very easy.
