    Equipment Storage

I was riffling through my gear and trying to organize things [as much as they can be organized in a 1 bedroom apartment]. I'm trying to figure out the best way to store my TQs and UQs since I'm starting to accumulate a few. I have them just hanging in my closet right now; unfortunately, they take up about a quarter of the space.

How do most of y'all store them when you have limited space? Would something like a quilt bag or oversized pillow case work or do you think that would compress them too much?

Not sure if this will help but I had the same problem a while ago. What i did was clear a space in my out building and found a real nice gear locker on craigslist for $50. One side I hang my bags, UQ's,etc and the other side is shelving for everything else. This locker is for my hiking/hammock/camping gear and nothing else. This has worked great for me. Good luck

I don't have a lot of space so I use oversized breathable stuff sacs. I've also used those long under the bed platic containers.

These bags from Marty work great.

Brilliant! The REI bags and the ones from WL are just what I was thinking. Hmm...still have an REI credit too. Thanks!

I actully buy the sack I hang my down in from the Dollar Tree. Yip, $1 laundry bags made of light nylon netting. They will not take a 5lb expedition bag well, but my 2 or 3 lbs of down breath very well in them. I then hang them up in corners of closets. Some are hidden in the corner of my daughters room. You don't even see them in there with her clothes hung up.

I use the rectangular zippered blanket bags, they have breatheable sides. I then place them on a shelf in my gear room.

Many thanks for reminding me that I DO have more storage space. Now that it's time to put the gear away until spring I was at a loss to figure out where to put it.

My pack, a box of camping only food and all the extra stuff has been cluttering up my living room since May!! I have a pedestal bed that has some room in it still!!

The JRB quilts all come in an oversized clear enclosure with zippers...it makes a great storage bag which keeps quilts uncompressed, dust free, and clear so that you can see which quilt is in the bag without opening it...
