I pick and make the gear based on what looks good to me at the moment. I have gear in almost every color you can think of. I usually look to have at least one bright colored piece of gear in my pack...should I fall down and break my leg I want something to be able to signal with. I don't go out of my way to stand out but I also don't go out of my way to hide. At this years Idaho hang the last night we had a couple guys wander into camp just before dark. We chatted a while as the fish were cooking and we invited them to hang out, share the fire, some fish and some whiskey. They were nice guys and we chatted around the fire for several hours. If we had been "Stealth" then we may not have gotten to meet and hang out with a couple gear junkies. Most folks that are way out in the woods are like minded from what I have found....we enjoy the woods and from time to time its nice to be able to meet folks and chat....kinda like this here forum, there are a lot of folks lurking never saying anything we don't get to benefit from their opinions and thought. But those that do share are the ones willing to come out of the dark and pull up a seat around the communal fire. Come on out of the dark, pour a cup-a, we don't bite.

I don't have a camo fetish - I rarely stealth camp and if I do, it is far from any place people could see me. If anything, I might start moving away from earth tones. The last couple of years hiking and hanging in hunting season made me realize I could be mistaken for game.

i have all black gear. i also like to put a few pieces of reflective line out so i can find my setup when i wander off.

other than that, i dont want to stand out. im actually working on a better pattern to blend into the woods (for tarps) in hunting season (in known areas) i wear bright colors and then drape it over the RL when at camp.

but normally, i want to not be seen. im working on a stealth camping book right now and prefer the joys of being hidden in plain sight.

My hammock, or at least one of them is camo, my QU- camo, my TQ- camo, my SuperFly- camo, my Tadpole- black (they didn't have the camo when I bought it). I'm not TRYING to hide. The only camping I do during hunting season is with the Scouts, and most have plenty of bright colors. For me, hunting season is for hunting.

But I can understand wanting to be seen. Less likely for someone to just stumble into your camp, more likely to meet friendly folks, as Paul said........RR

I blend. Don't do camo...don't care to give off too much of an 'ex-military' vibe.

I don't care to stand out...in the woods or in the city.

So, greys, greens, browns...my favorite colors.

I think colors which blend in are more versatile, you can always add some reflective and fluro flags for times you want visibility, but it is very hard to disguise a bright color should you ever feel the need.

    Mix and not-matched.
I tend to buy what is on sale or cheaper. When I have a choice I will pick muted or darker colors - I like the olives, browns, dark greens, etc, but they tend to clash with my bright red (sale) pinnacle pack.

I like to blend in so as not to distract from the natural setting.

In the woods I blend. In life I choose to stand out.
