    Smile Full Time Hanger

Well it's been almost two months now, and I can say that I've finally fully converted. Having an indoor hammock in my room and sleeping in it every night, I've developed a serious bond with it. Big thanks to Cannibal for steering me down the right path on where to get my hammock.

But for you indoor hangers and full-timers, two questions:

How do I clean this big beauty without it getting crazy tangled in the washer?

What, if anything, are you guys doing for bottom insulation? (My underquilts don't even cover 1/8th of this beast.)

I'll assume its a macramed Brazilian, since C recommended it.

To wash- Purposefully tie the ends in an overhand knot. This will keep the ends from becoming tangled. Stick the whole she bang in a mesh/net stuff sack. Wash on gentle cycle. Remove from bag and undo the knots. Hang to dry. Or wash by hand. But the knot thing works to keep the ends from doing that magical criss-cross that can and will happen with those multi-string ended hammocks.

Light uq's are still needed when indoors. I thought otherwise at first. But the uq is necessary. You can customize your suspension or build a duty specific uq that always hangs with this hammock. A repurposed blanket or similar can do the trick.
A poncho liner also works well.

    Happy hanging.

I hand wash in the bath tub, then air dry.

I simply lay and old sleeping bag (with broken zipper) in the hammock and sleep on that. Warm and toasty.

You could put the hammock in a big pillow case and tie a knot in the case and machine wash, air dry

Welcome to the club. Here's what I do for an under quilt.

Even if the hammock is huge, you're still the same size so the UQ doesn't need to be ginormous.

Did you install it in on a stand? into the wall studs?

i'm looking into an indoor hammock as a replacement for my bed but I'm finding the available resources are scarce

I've been sleeping in an indoor hammock for the last couple of months and I absolutely love it. I've installed cargo net loops (can't remember what they're called) into my wall studs with 2 3" #14 SPAX screws each. Bought metal loops and SPAX screws from Home Depot. I've been using an old sleeping bag for an underquilt. I sewed grosgrain loops onto the 4 corners of the bag and have doubled over shock cord from Dutch attaching from those 4 corners to my suspension. I also sewed a channel into the top of the sleeping bag (1 was already there on the bottom end) and ran a single length of shock cord through the top and one through the bottom ends. I have toggles on those which I use to gather the top and bottom ends. HTH!

I tried sending Cannibal a PM asking his opinions on some different brazilians and mayans, but I don't think he has been on recently :/
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
