Thanks for the Tracks as it shows exactly where this trail is.

I imported it into Google Earth and was surprised that this trail was not further north. For some reason I thought it started along HWY 17, running south east to Whitefish Falls. I saved this to My Places in Google Earth as this is the only accurate information I have been able to find about this trail. This will be very useful.

    Cheers

Keep in mind, those tracks are raw, so you'll see where we wondered around exploring and the few spots we lost the trail. The trail is pretty clear for the most part, but does get hard to find in others. Day 1 we wasted a bit of time trying to find the **** to cross the river and then trying to find the trail again.

Raw Tracks are better than no tracks. Sometime just knowing you are heading in the correct direction is a comfort with some of these over grown northern trails.

I was shocked how over grown the trails were in Mississagi Provincial Park this past June. About 80% of the trail was easy to follow while the last 20% was very challenging. At one point I was completely lost and just had to sit down, collect my thoughts, pull out my trail map and GPS and figure out exactly where I was. Turns out I was less than 20 m from the faint trail but it gave my a good scare (this was a solo over night hike).

Again, it looks like a fantastic backcountry trip. Thanks for sharing all this information.

    Cheers

Great trip report NM! Looks like you had a great time. I ran into knee issues on our SHT trip this weekend and had to bail on the Saturday night. It's not a comfortable place to run into that problem.

Thanks very much for this info.
I am hoping to backpack Heaven's Gate trail in the next month and there is next to nothing I can find online regarding GPS tracks or maps, or where to get physical maps.
I was looking into this trail about 5 years ago and at the time there was a website that had a GPS track (La Cloche Institute I believe), but it is gone now.
This post helped me a lot! I registered on hammock forums just so I can see this content, get the GPS track and be able to post.

Great report and info. Thank you so much for posting this.

I was digging around the net and found this report from the Suluk 46 website from 2011, might also be helpful to somebody:
