    Hanging on Catalina Island

This was the 2nd part of my week of hammock camping. The first part was at the Kearsarge Lakes with my son in the High Sierras at over 10,700 ft. (https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=79812). This one was more at sea level on Catalina Island.

After a one day turn around to resupply I was off to Catalina with my buddy who had never hung in a hammock before. We flew into the airport (1602ft) and then hiked down 5 miles on the Sheep Trail to Little Harbor where we stayed 2 nights.

There is some footage of an old WWII bunker that was used as lookout after Pearl Harbor to protect the West Coast from attack.

I got some neat underwater footage with my GoPro. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

    Nice

I love that island. Been a few years since I was last there. Took a boat last time never thought about flying there. Also I don't remember seeing many trees to hang from. We're you able to reserve one of those shelters knowing you'd have a place to hang when you arrived?

    Thanks for taking us along!

Sidewinder, we did make reservations. We had previously flown over the campgrounds to scout it out on a previous flight. We saw palm trees thinking that we could hang from them, but when we arrived, the palms were not suitable for hanging as there were a lot of undergrowth. We originally had the camp site closest to the beach. The campground host suggested using the shelters to hang. So since there was only one other person camping, we just picked a spot which had a shelter that allowed us to hang our hammocks. Thanks for watching!
