Having never been a part of a group hang, please forgive me if I am not following protocol. Can anyone from HF just decide to join a group hang? If so, I have clearance from the tower and should be able to join you. Please let me know if that's okay.

I would not make it until later in the evening on Friday and do not know YRSF at all so if you can give me some tips on where to park near the spot that would be great....I'd like to minimize my hike in the dark after a four and a half hour drive.

Tested my gear recently down to 25* so I imagine that unless it will be significantly colder I will survive just fine.

Thanks for the consideration...I will watch for a response.

I can't really speak to the parking situation, but you are definitely welcome to join on this or any other group hang posted!

I don't think there's any protocol to follow.

See you in a couple weeks!

I will add you to the list. Park at the headquarters and hiked up to John Schultz camp. Its less than a mile in. That camp ground does not have any water source. You will need to bring your H2O. HQ address is 729 State Forest Road. Harpers Ferry, IA 52146

I think my plan is this:

Thursday: Glen Wendel (probably not getting to the park until 7-8pm)

    Friday: John Schultz

    Saturday: Brown's Hollow

I think some of you had said you were coming Thursday night as well.... This sound good? Also, does anyone know if Glen Wendel is a dry site? According to the map it looks like there is a pond there as well as at John Schultz, but Photoman says that site is dry? Can we get some clarification please

Browns hollow has its own parking lot about a half of a mile from camp and at John Schultz you can park on the road by the fire tower.

Sounds like a plan to me. I expect to be there in the afternoon sometime. Ish.

Also, here is a map for anyone who hasn't seen it.

All my info has come from past post and reading articles on line about YRSF. I have not been there personally to confirm the no water on location.

The pond at Glen Wendel is more of a mud puddle than a pond. Browns Hollow had running water when I was there a couple of weeks ago, but that's the only water that I know of by the camp sites.
