    Sleeping naked is warmer?

I've always understood that layers = warmth but I just had someone in one of my classes say that sleeping bags work better when your naked. I just wanted to see if there was any fact behind this statement. I know adding layers on top of what I'm already wearing makes me warmer but I've never slept naked or close to it in colder temps to really see if it does make a difference. Personally I think he doesn't know what he's talking about but figured I would ask around before I assume him wrong..

Lots of folks advocate that concept. But, I like the idea of not having to remember I'm bare-assed when I come out from behind the tarp.

Ya that's one of my major concerns with the idea. When you get out of your sleeping setup you definitely want to have your clothing on if it's below freezing and especially so if it's below 0* (below 0 it's a matter of survival to keep from going hypothermic). It's certainly not easy to put on full cold weather gear in a sleeping bag on the ground and even harder I'm sure in a hammock

You need to learn the art of hammock peeing. Just watch where you leave your boots!

This is one answer I found on yahoo answers

If you are talking about "Outside" Camping..YES, sleeping naked will keep you warmer. Clothes restrict blood flow and also hold in moisture. If you are sleeping in colder weather or even freezing weather, sleeping with your clothes off and putting them inside your sleeping bag will result in you being warmer, by as much a +10 degree's.......

Bet that was before synthetic clothing. Wicking the moisture away is key and the new stuff does that much much better than the old gear.
