    Clark vs new dd

with the new dd jungle hammock it begs the question is it worth it to buy a Clark?
I am happy to pay for quality.. but the less I have to pay for the quality the better what dd has done as far as I can see is build a tx-150. they even have a weather shield of sorts. and a fully removable bug net.
so the question is. anyone have and compelling reason to buy a Clark over a dd?
was considering a N.A but if I can grab a quality platform for a 1/3 the price why not.

It is an interesting choice. I haven't really compared specs on these hammocks, but a cursory look at the DD makes it look like a viable alternative to a Clark. My first thought about buying a Clark versus the DD is that Clark has had more time to refine their design. I will be interested to see other opinions.

The new DD appears to be about 5 or 6 inches wider than the Clarks, which, all else being equal, would make the DD more comfortable.

And from where you are hanging, in Florida, and a former Clark owner, in excellent location to judge if all things are equal.

If "all things were equal", parakeets would be the size of turkeys and get plum roles as opera performers. And Tree to Tree Trail Gear would make wider hammocks, and........

On topic: There's a challenge competing with Asian-sewn goods, and the further challenge of competing with those who copy your designs.

Is Clark the first to come out with the poles? I saw an asian hammock years ago with the poles. I can't remember the name of them off hand.

DD is not copying Clarks pockets, and they have the removeable waterproof bottom layer, which can be used on top also. It is similar to the Clark, but still very different.

I find it interesting, but wonder why a waterproof bottom layer? Waterproof will cause condensation in the hammock. They need to offer a breathable bottom layer also. I do understand the waterprrof layer for going to ground, but a breathable one can be offered for that also, and use a pad with it.

    Its the Siam hammock.
The dd looks closer to the Siam. I will try to set up my Siam and Tx-250 to get a shot of them together.

Thanks, I'd like to see that. I almost got a Siam hammock, but didn't. Let me know how they compare overall. I ordered the DD yesterday. I should have it this week. I got it without the suspension so I can put my own on it.

Verrrrry interesting... I would sure like to try one out.

The DD's I have had in the past, while similar in design and lay, do not have quite the "bathtub" effect of the Clark, and the fabric was a lot "coarser" IMHO.

Also, the craftmanship was not as good on the DD, however quite satisfactory for the price.

Will be anxious to try and snag a used one here on the forum.

Inspector guy, you may have a bit of a wait to snag one in the for sale thread, since the DD Jungle Hammock is fairly new. But, give it time.
