Am I allowed to legally hang here?

    Hey guys viper here!
Well I have been windering for a while now is it legal for me to hang in ozark Mo? I can't figuer this questin out so I thought I would post here and see if anyone els knows or if anyone els is local.
We have a nice part near my house where I go a fair amount and just set up and hang idk if its Legil or not but I never have seen anyone els with a hammock set up around here other then obviously in their yards.
(And obviously wherever I may be camping I hang) (Arkansas and Mo mostly)
    Thanks guys!
Btw their are no signs that say no hammocks if that even exists lol but it's not listed in the rules here at the park anyways.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe what I have seen is that the Missouri state parks require either 1.5" or 2" tree straps be used, but other than that, I believe it is fine.

I'm actually headed to the ozarks this weekend, and don't anticipate any issues.

The best answer to your question probably resides with someone in authority where you are planning to hang. Just go ask them.
There has been great debate here about what is allowed and what is not and whether it is better to ask permission or forgiveness.
You will never go wrong asking first (especially if you want to do the right thing within the rules). It often leads to a great conversation and an opportunity to be a "missionary" for hammocking!
So if you have a specific park or location in mind just go ask the rangers or caretakers.
    Just my 2 cents.

Don't know if it will help you or not, but there is an entire thread about hanging in different states.

    Hope that helps.

I have hung at Montauk State Park in Salem. I had a discussion with one of the rangers assistants. They seem to be really cool about the idea there just as long as you are
using the webbing around the trees. She even mentioned there should be listing for hammocks on the reservation system because they are becoming more popular.

I'd say as long as you're taking measures to LNT, and not damaging tree's (using tree straps) I'd say it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. No one is going to arrest you for hanging a hammock, as long as you're respectful and take it down when requested by a park official.

That was an old joke on my rafting trips when we would hit calm waters. "Hey Joe, we better move it, I think I hear banjos!"
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
