    Exped style guy line connectors

I'm finishing up a DIY Gear Supply Winter Tarp, and added some ideas from the Exped Combi tarp.

On the Exped, the main side tarp tie-out lines are threaded through LineLocs which are sewn to the tarp with grosgrain webbing. (There are storage pockets at the tarp reinforcement for stowing the guys.)

For the ends/doors, more flexibility is provided by having the guy line and LineLoc attached to a webbing loop with a carabiner. Easy to make with a bit of 1/2" webbing.

For the tarp ridgeline attachments, the Exped has some 'auxiliary' webbing loops set in from the end of the tarp ridgeline (two at each end, spaced 10"). The idea is that you can clip the tarp suspension 'in from the ends' if the space between the trees is too narrow to use the full length of the tarp.
Again, LineLocs and carabiners are used, but there is also elastic sewn into the webbing loop (4 layers of 1/2" flat elastic) to provide some shock absorption.

Hope the pics make the DIY versions clear!

Well, the clever part was from those crafty Swiss designers..
I just needed to stitch it up.
Lots of stuff to copy in that Exped system!

BTW, all the webbing, hardware, thread and fabric for this tarp project came from Scott at diygearsupply.....great service.

Unfortunately I forgot to order the plastic D rings I want for the pullouts, or I'd have pics of the completed tarp to show. They are in the mail....
