Can't any hammock in the most desperate of situations (no trees being the only one I can currently think of) be used on the ground? There are ways to stick rig your bugnet and tarp, and if you're currently using a pad, I don't know of any hammock that would not work as a tiny bit of ground cover....or am I just dense today? Seems as I get older, I have more dense days than not

Yeah most any hammock can do it I just like to be ready for any situation. A wool blanket is very useful as a survival tool and is a lot tougher than most sleeping bags i know of haha. A wool blanket can also be a great cloak if it was needed. I'm kind of a survival guy like to expect the unexpected when i can. -Matt

I thought I was the only one that believes the wool is worth the weight.
When I was a kid the only time we were in the house was to eat and sleep.

I motorcycle camp and since weight is not a big issue for me, I normally carry my wool blanket. Last time I camped in Mi. I was expecting nights high to mid 60's and ended up with nights in the low 40's. Wool blanket and hot water bottle were my very best friends.

After you end up with wet gear and the only reason you are still
Warm is the fact that wool retains 80percent of its
Heat value it makes it hard to leave it at home.
As I am tipping this I am laying in my Clark with the wool blanket as a pillow life is good

I love to use a wool blanket when I am car camping or setting up in the back yard. But when backpacking it is uq/tq time.

I don't really use wool blankets with the hammocks. I use wool blankets when I'm ground dwelling in the open sky or in lean-to mode with a fire close-by though.

For those moments when I'm feeling all bushcrafty and such wool is king. Otherwise it is Apex then Down...
