Another thought with the "saddle bag" approach, you could install it over your hammmock ridgeline and then hand stitch the two sides together in a few places up near the ridgeline to take care of any balance issues. Needle, thread and 5 minutes would do it.

This was the kind of organizer I want so thanks for the explanation.

However after looking at it I figured it could be simplified and cleaned up a bit so I drew this up in MS Paint.

I'll explain... You don't need 3 pieces of fabric which means you had more issues sewing at the bottoms of the pockets than you needed to have.

You never did the trick where you sew something and then turn it inside out so the seam isn't on display it gets hidden on the inside... and new people with low skills like myself that is pretty crucial LOL

    Here it is

I solved any potential balance issues by adding a couple of kam snaps. Right at the top edge of the pockets That way it's easy on/off if needed (but usually it just stays on). Velcro would probably work too...

I made one with a single piece of scrap mosquito netting and a bit of grosgrain. Instead of running the ridgeline through a channel, I just attach it to the ridgeline with prusiks in mason line. It's not pretty (nothing I sew is pretty), but it stays put. The central pocket for water bottle is a good idea; I may have to retrofit mine by sewing the two sides together at the bottom.

THANK YOU!! These well-drawn instructions, and using a large piece of paper to mock it up, is exactly what I needed! Helps me visualize and modify it without jacking up perfectly good material.

I make mine the same way (but I add a channel for the ridgeline). I also prefer to use organza material. It's a bit stiffer than mesh. I just pick up a random design of whatever is on sale at JoAnne Fabrics. This time it was a spider web design.

Nice Design. The center pouch is a great idea. I'm going to make one like this today, but I'm going to use velcro on the bottom so it can be removed and used in other hammocks.

I don't let velcro anywhere near my hammocks. Velcro is great, but it tears up nylon quickly.

I like the design. I'd add a ridgeline channel, then sew one end shut and raise the open end slightly. with the front raised my water bottle won't slide out and hit me in the face. With the back sewn shut, it won't slide out the back and hit me in the um... anywhere else.
