I agree, whatever gets you out and about and makes you happy. I have had all kinds of configurations and I am still intrigued with others. Bottom line, I want to be in the woods and on the water as much as time and money will allow.
I may look into this myself. I like microfiber.

I am glad we all agree- no rule because i am using a 20 degree mummy opened up as a tq,it has a fleece lining and a large foot box and it seems to work just fine, On the tq it is easy to use something like this but for the bottom not so much! About to purchase uq shells from underquilts.com and finish them myselve,it will save alittle money as i can buy one piece of the project at a time-ie shells this week down fill next week and so on.
Not completly a full diy project, cheating buy buying the shell but i am still gonna count it as one
I have been hanging for six years and I am still using my campmor down bag as a TQ. I do have a phoenix UQ but use a DIY IX UQ in summer and for a couple of years used a DIY UQ from an old Holofill sleeping bag. I think we need to improvise with what resources we have.
I remember as a kid, my Dad would get a ladder, stack all the stuff we needed to camp, blankets, dishes, food, etc. on the ladder and he would get on one end and me on the other and our family would walk through the corn fields to the woods behind our house and camp for several days. Hardly high tech, but what great memories I have of those times.

I guess you can't lurk around here forever without giving back a little info. I purchased a couple of the E.B. oversized throws (solid colors) last winter. They are actually pretty well made. Haven't lost any down. The polyester has a soft finish, but is very durable. They aren't the lightest things in the world, at about a pound and a half each. They do compact to a small size in a compression sack. I think the actual length is a bit under the listed 6', so may not be great for a taller person. I am 6', and have no problem.
I would say this is a good TQ for the shoulder seasons. Too warm for summer, and keeps me comfortable down to the lower 40's.
I have rigged this up as an underquilt also. It's an easy, no-sew rig with the Ridge Runner.
I'd say give them a try.
