    Whoopies..."How to make?"

Hello my hanging friends, this is a small question that might have been answered before,,,, I just havent seen it yet. So I do appologize if it has been posted... I want to make a 1/8th inch whoopi.... but dont know how to do it. YES... I do have 7/64ths... and know they work and hold me.. I want to make 1/8th ones though... is there a "how to" on this?... with pics hopefully. Id like to thank everyone for all the wealth of knowledge that you graciously share with everyone. Its been a pleasure so far for me on the HF. I hope that one day I may be able to pass on this information to someone just starting out... GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE .........Chris

Don't know if this will help, but where most people put a bead top stop the adjustable loop from pulling through I just splice in a 3-4 inch loose piece in the non adjustable end of the loop. Just a different idea that doesn't require going and getting beads. Plus I just don't like them, unless they are titanium whoopie hooks, those are a heck of a bead! :-)

I used the guide that Shug linked, and it's fairly self-explanatory. The only difference I did was to use green florist's wire (like this) rather than a needle.

It's fairly easy, and definitely repeatable.

    Hope it helps!

you make 1/8 the same way you make 7/64 but the adder for shrinkage is a bit longer. There are formula's in diameters around.

As I recall I used 2 in. Translate that as for an 8 in bury mark of 10 in of amsteel between the entry and exit points. It shortens as it expands around the buried core. A bit more is "better" than a bit less.

Pay attention to the taper as the transition in core diameter is a critical stress point for the fixed loop.
    YMMV

I had a go and found it difficult to make whoopies until saw a tip on the forums for using the inner wires of a telephone cable as a type of fid.
this reduced the exercise from a frustrating lenghty period to easy and quick.
