    Here's the website of the manufacturer of Dyneema.

    I think it's white mostly because the process to dye the stuff is different and costly compared to other materials.

    'Tain't carbon fiber... where did I get that idea? Dyneema and Spectra are 'composites' but the grid is ultra high mol wt polyethylene, spun for strand orientation. There is a small amount of rubber matrix.
