FIMB is an ingenious young man. And he makes a darn good chili too!
I wore wool tights and a light wool hoodie, took 'em off in the middle of the night, put 'em back on in the morning.

A part from it not being long enough, a most enjoyable trip report, MedicineMan, thank you!
Thanks Brucie! Didn't get that part about wanting your brain ??? But what a kind offer for the egg rings....we checked 3 different stores with no luck, but I think FIMB found a link.

YES to the coffee filter--so easy and no oil to mess with.

The egg rings are common here in Australia. It's amazing we have something here that you don't in the states, how strange is that. Normally it's the other way around.

I think just about all my hiking gear is from the states.

Love watching your trip reports, especially with the dry baking. I don't think I will ever leave on a hike now, without my dry baking kit.
At this weight baking is always something to consider, not if I was climbing Mt. Sterling again but for most hikes a big yes.

Started years ago with steam baking and it works fine, but to me dry baking is more like real baking with the flavor that comes with it.

Now yu and Poof got me rethinking M50 again..doh! Awesome, Awesome music,,need to can it so we can have a copy! And you and Phillipsart are eventually sucking me into baking and hauling all that gear! dang,,bunches of new stuff! You and Poof enjoy the moments !
Acer this system is NOT heavy for what you get out of it. I would NOT even consider m50 at my body weight (currently 184 pounds), people like Poof and Cakes can get away with it but even then Poof will tell you it stretches a lot...not for me

Duffy I was very lucky to see WV's at the Greenbriar and FIMB's at John Rock, to me it just makes sense....now the southern Floridians I can see not but even this weekend at a low of 58F I was still good with the 35F quilt under me--heck I just don't get hot, a blessing in summer/curse in winter. But not having to fiddle with any lines/suspension; well it's the same concept of the sock and not having to fiddle with tarp lines.
Now we'll see how it holds up over the next year, but I can detect no stresses on the newly apply 'system'....but it is one reason I went with a double bottom

Pip I agree and am very excited that FIMB is entertaining making them for others; not that you're interested but some might be, if so FIMB is very approachable besides ingenius as Cakes said.

    For those interested:
Hammock body and insulation: 660g/23.4 oz/1.464 lbs
Consider that the DL Traveler weighs ~16oz without suspension normally.
MM put on his own whoopie sling suspension which of course adds some weight.
That is ~7.4oz for the "UQ" to get him down to 40F since he is a cold sleeper.

There is no suspension. This UQ is built into the hammock. Gaping/venting are impossible from underneath. The hammock has to be treated like a quilt and hung up when not in use to keep the down lofted, but this makes packing so much simpler.

FIMB ??? 'MM put on his own whoopie sling suspension which of course adds some weight' ???
I think the whoopie I installed is lighter than the webbing suspension it replaced.

Shug, we hate it your in a motel room! but I bet you're resting up for the next show. Blink you eyes a few times and the busy season will be over and you can get some woods time.

MM, another fine report. Wilderness trails are always interesting. Glad to see FIMB's insulated hammock and hear your appreciation of it. Nice work!

Looking superb, as always I might add!

Great camp site. What tarp was Poof using? The asym cuben or?

Very interesting UQ FIMB made there....

Loved the slideshow at the end, gorgeous waterfall pics.

Life is slowly returning to it's normal pace here so there is light at the end of the tunnel to escape from the cubicle and not only live through other people's trip reports (as much as I like 'em)....

Thanks for sharing and the hike along.
