Mother nature is a spiteful female dog

I was thinking about setting up the hammock in the backyard tonight, but talked my self out of it. I've got a trip coming up in two days and I didn't want to break down my pack, and more importantly it was a humid 85 degrees outside.

Well that was before the sky's opened up and dumped the best rainstorm this summer out there. If that's not bad enough the sky keeps flashing with lightning and thunder, mocking me.

The sound of the rain on the tarp puts me to sleep in a matter of moments.

My thought exactly. It should cool off with the rain, too.

Well,,we have another cold front coming in over the weekend,,and they are predicting lows in the lower 50's. I just can't get over this cool weather we are experiencing in the Midwest and l am hanging every nite outdoors that it is cool...love the rain on the tarps. Last half of July and now the 1st week of August,,as really been super nice!

I've spent the last four nights in base camp backyard with promises of rain from the local weather person. Only an occasional sprinkle not enough to get my tarp wet. Awoke disappointed but well rested each day. My old yellow Lab lays under my tarp. Though she gets up slowly the first thing she does when standing is start to wag her tail. I guess she's just happy to be alive and still walking the earth.
    There's no excuse for laziness...

but, if you find one, let me know.

I can deal with hot and cold... these are some of the joys of camping.
There is nothing like weathering out a storm. I always loved sitting through
a torrential downpour in my boy scout wall tent. There were days when we
had a river flowing under our cot. So FUN!

The one thing that I don't like to handle, is mosquitos. Such a pain
