Cinch buckles - To buy bulk or design?

I finally got approval to start making some hammocks for our scout troop, and have ordered the fabric (1.9) and the webbing (1,500) on a tight budget. I remember years ago, my first hammock was a gathered-end, webbing, and descender rings. Great starter.

So, I need to buy around 20 - 24 cinch buckles for this troop - nothing needs to be light, but rather go with a buckle, then remind the boys to back-up their rings with a half-hitch

I also have the option of utilizing my brother-in-law who owns a laser cutting business, and send him a vector graph, type of material needed and thickness, and let him go at it, and maybe make some spares.

At no point am I trying to steer away from my good friends Dutch (Dutchware) and Paul (Arrowhead Equipment) - they have some awesome products and I have ordered from both of them over the years.

    Questions:
    • What is your preference when coming to buckles - something that lies flat like Paul's design, or slides like Dutch's design? Pros Cons
    • Have you found a place to buy in bulk from with decent shipping?
    • Have you tried to design your own?
    • I am using 1,500lb webbing from Shippers Supply, which is nice and thin, but also smooth surface - does that dictate which one to use?
    • Other thoughts, recommendations, metal choices, etc

    Thanks again for your help

Cinch buckles, Gary will take care of you. I recently purchased a large number of cinch buckles and was well satisfied with pricing and service.

If I were getting something fab'd up, I'd go with Warbonnet triangles.

Don't get me wrong, cinch buckles work fine but I like the way the triangle orients the strap such that everything is aligned and secure. Cinch buckles can be twisted and the straps become slightly misaligned. Haven't had any problems but it is something I watch.

Second on Ready strap, and Gary. Recently ordered 40 buckles and strap from him and everything works great. Even the youngest girl has no problem setting up their hammocks. Plus great price and rapid shipping. Thanks Gary.

I am working on a new scouts/camp bulk order policy. Hope to have the scope sorted out in the next week or so. Some trail time this weekend should help my brain sort out what we want to do with it and the direction we want to go.

Thanks Paul - Sorry we weren't able to meet up when I was in Boise last week. I am sure many people will be interested in your fantastic products.

Readystrap.com Cinch buckles easy to use low cost but heavy

Arrowhead, Warbonnet, Dutch ect have some great stuff but the Readystrap cinch buckles would be easier for the scouts to use until they get some experience with the hammocks and are are ready to branch out.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
