An interesting idea. I'm looking at it and thinking really cool but would I use it. For me it would be a complete novalty piece. Plus, I'm already looking to change out the suspension and would want a longer hammock w/ a ridgeline integrated.

You guys are off to a very good start. Hopeing for the very best for you in this endevour. It's got potential for sure.

Cool idea, I take a hammock on every hike I take even if it is a short one
Since the hammock slides thru the backpack, can you change out hammocks and put your own DIY hammock or commercial hammock in the pocket? Have you thought of putting a hammock with bugnet in it for the people that live in buggy areas?

I think there would be a market for it but I personlly still would like to have the pack and hammock separate. I like things modular and separate but that's just me.

You know.... there is some stigna associated with
combination technology. Take for example the tv and
vcr combos, people constantly had problems with those.
Now, they are skepticle about things that are combos,
But this will just be an obstacle in marketing. As long
as people are able to change the hammock and suspension,
    they will like it.

Thanks everyone! That bridge skin looks pretty cool. After I came up with the idea I googled hammock backpack and read down 20 or more pages. Never really saw anything even close, but now I have.

I just got back from a trip yesterday and went to my fiancée company to meet her and take the bus home together. Ended up getting there a half hour early. I quickly bought a beer and found two trees 12 feet apart. I really feel that before I wouldn't have even realized what I was missing out on. Hammocking for a half hour at lunch or during the day is a fantastic way to relax. It's not just for hiking and camping (although they are awesome then too!)

The hammock is easily removable. Just take the top carabiner off and pull the hammock out. Putting a hammock back in will require you to unzip the flap on one side so you can get you hand up inside to put the rope through. All together it take 10-30 seconds. It also makes cleaning your hammock or upgrading really easy. We have a few other cool ideas for making 'hacking hammocks' and we want everything to be interchangeable.

I just really love hammocking, especially with friends and family. It's pretty cool how a small grove of trees gets turned into a lively party with plenty of places to sit and lay down. We like to make all kinds of cool patterns with the hammock layouts. One of the side benefits of doing a hammock related kickstarter is that you end up with a ton of extra hammocks from different manufacturers laying around the house. Even though a lot of my friends don't have hammocks I sometimes show up with 5 or 6 and all of a sudden it's hammock party time

By the way if there are any questions that were asked that I missed just PM me. I really busy recently keeping track of all the stuff going on.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

    Yep, that was me

To everyone with all the ideas and suggestions, I just want to say thanks.

Believe it or not, I did consider not using the word 'stretch' in the new goal, but kinda just forgot about that idea when we went to write the update.

Bug nets would be nice. I have never used one before (mosquito don't seem to like me much, and I bring spray if they get frisky). We will have to do some looking. Are there any mosquito nets that don't attach directly to the hammock with zippers? I don't think a zip up hammock is in the works for us.

Look into something called the Fronkey-style or the BIAS Buginator. I think it'd work well for this sort of application.

Best bug neg for your use will be called HUG.
This is be dejoha. It only takes 2 yards of no seeum
And is only for the top third. The reason that
I think this is great for you is that you can
Make it into a stuff sack also, to keep the hammock
in if its wet. Sure its not full length, but do you
    need full?

Most hangers will have a blanket or bag for lower body,
but since yours has a different audience, I don't know.
Fronkey style takes 7 yards, and at 3 bucks a yard plus
    other materials, that is expensive.
