    Insulation

I'm about to get a Hennessy Expedition Asym Classic, would a 30 degree Fahrenheit mummy sleeping bag be enough insulation? Avereage temperatures in my area in the summer are about 80 degrees during the day and 50 at night. In the winter it's 50 during the day and 35 at night.

You will want something to insulate you under side. Your body weight compresses the insulation in the bag under you. A pad or under quilt provide insulation to those areas.

    +1 to that.

Consider a TQ (Top Quilt) and an UQ (Under Quilt) to achieve this. Quality equipment will make for a comfortable night. There are as many different TQ and UQs as there are vendors and spools of thread but all have the basics in common. And as always, HYOH (Hang Your Own Hang, Hike Your Own Hike... you get it)

    Budget

What are the price ranges of these quilts. Are there any home made solutions anyone is aware of. I do not plan to be hanging at temps below 50.

Google PLUQ and/or Poncho Liner Under Quilt and you will get all sorts of How-Tos for making an underquilt out of a Poncho Liner, either with a thread injector (sewing machine) or without.

Prices for good commercially made underquilts will start at around $150.
