Namnat, I pretty much followed Scooterbrown's post here https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ht=Climashield. And on about the 3rd page down he has a couple of diagrams that really helped. Then read through other DIY posts.

Nice looking UQ there. I join in the curiosity of the temp range of comfort in your new UQ.
Happy Trails to one and all.
Enjoy the outdoors wisely and elevate your perspective.

Nice work. I'm about to take the plunge and make a down UQ myself.
Thanks!
Btw, I like what you have made here. Are you taking orders? How much did it end up costing you?

Great job! I made one with a single layer of 5oz and love it! I have had it to 28 degrees with a matching TQ.
Looks great, waiting for a report on how it works!
YMMV

Free advice worth what you paid for it. ;-)
Maybe be a couple months down here before it gets cold enough to really test it. I'm hoping it will get me down to 35-40ish. I've read where several others are getting in the 30's and high 20's. Will definitely report back on how it does.
Namnat - Nylon was about $8 and 2 yards of Climashield was around $30 plus shipping. I got a killer deal on the nylon from this site and from Walmart. if I didn't get the deal on the nylon, all of material would have cost me around $50 plus shipping. Would like to find cheaper source of Climashield, it was $15 yd. Took about 4hrs to make, Wish I had time to make more of these for others, I would do it, but just don't have time.
Nice job ! Looks like it should serve you well.
I know that this thread is slightly older, but I wanted to see how the UQ is treating you? I purchased Apex 5.0 from Thru-Hiker and some 1.1 from Ripstopbytheroll. In researching, I found the JRB uses a 42" width and Hammockgear.com uses 45" width. Does your UQ at 42 inches provide enough coverage for you? I am 6ft, 170lbs and not very wide, but I would rather error on the wider side and not cut it too thin. Any advice is very appreciated.
