    Whoopie slings

I bought my wife a ridgerunner with whoopie slings. She and I are not fans of the Whoopie. It is to much fiddling for her. What is the easiest way to set her up with a different suspension? can we just replace the whoopies with adjustable webbing? (that is what is one my new Blackbird and I love the adjust-ability.)

Yes many people like the cinch buckle for the RR it is nice because you really don't need much more webbing than goes around the tree.

I changed our rope and biners to cinch buckle type suspensions. She loves the adjustability I love that she is happy we both win for now.

well this weekend we made use of the gigantically long whoopies. We found some trees that were pretty far apart and she could have hung the ridge runner on trees even 4-6ft wider.

It was crazy. It works but but it was a HUGE SPAN. We might have to get some cinch buckles and webbing.

There is a weight penalty with the cinch buckles but they are very easy to use. I use them on most of my hammocks.

not too concerned with weight for her hammock. She is not so interested in hiking and primitive stuff yet. So car camping it is for us right now.

Ditto here. My wife uses the RR and I kept the adjustable webbing and buckles on for her cause she really only car camps and its just so easy to set up that way. It should be an easy switch once you get the straps and buckles you need for it.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I just got a HH a few weeks ago, and used this method. I've never hung a hammock before, and found it VERY easy. The longest part for me was having to readjust the tree straps because they weren't high enough on the trees. I have yet to read anything about whoopies that make me want to switch.

One approach to simplify things and reduce the fiddle factor is to adjust the whoopies first so they are both set at about the same length and then leave them alone. Next, do the adjusting of the length of tree strap webbing instead. Simply tie the marlin spike hitch nearer or farther away from the tree, insert toggle, and attach whoopie. Do the same on the other side.

After doing this, if the hammock doesn't have enough sway to it, ..then retie the marlin spike hitch further down the webbing and away from the tree. Do the opposite if there is too much sway to the hammock.

Me, I really like and am sticking with my adjustable webbing set up from WB.
