Alright guys & gals, now I'm not trying to take anything away from anybody and when it comes to extreme weather the guys listed are at the top of the list. Having the most toys in my book doesn't make you extreme, it just means you have a lot of toys (sorry Cannibal). This guy sleeps 50' to 100' up in the tree tops. To me that's pretty extreme.

Every winter I remember snow plows driving on the lakes and putting up stop signs and lights on the LAKES!. ice fishing was huge and any winter sport you can imagine. It was interesting driving a 4x4 across the ice.

All the stores have plugs and no one locks there cars when they grocery shop. U plug them in and leave them running so its warm when you come out.

Now Summer time you would think everyone wants to come. I think fall was like 3 weeks and gone. But summertime is worse. MN state bird should really be the mosquito. When we did groceries we would only get enough where each person could grab 2 or 3 bags. Then all at one time. RUN! for the door.

Heh, now I begin to understand why so many Swedes settled in Minnesota... felt just like home!

On extreme hammocking, what about all those who spend all their nights in hammocks? Or hammock their way through a through-hike? That's some extreme hammocking to me!

What about the ones who risk the wraith of a significant other to spend the night in their hammock? That's pretty darn extreme in my book. And if you don't believe me then go marry a Sicilian whose family has mafia ties.

No apologies necessary. I don't really disagree. Just remember this is an old thread. My toys have taken me to -27°F since this thread began and I've slept the night away in a hammock on top of more than one 14er suspended between rocks.

I wouldn't consider climbing a tree very extreme though. Ed Speer was doing that way back in the day to avoid Grizzly bears. Excellent campfire tale to hear.

we have lots of great hangers here Shug and Turk is top on my list for extreme for winter hanging .. they pretty much set the tone for others. but to me i take in all factors as well as hanging as extreme
2 name i think we could add is my boy Dutch and Fronkey. Fronkeys winter Thru hike was Hardcore .. not many of us could do what he did
Dutch is just a beast on the trail and can hang in any conditions and his innovation to hanging is 2nd to non
also if we are talking innovation Zq would be on my list her work is darn near perfect i strive to sew as good as her .. her work is a think of art
