To keep this in the context of hammocks, I bet the battle would have ended different if they had hammocks to relax in instead of using the grog to relax.
Also, I bet there were great trees in that time to hammock from.

One of my passions is DIY. Whether its furnishings, or for the animals, or yard, or my gear, I love DIY, well, mainly because I can't afford not to.
One of my favorite threads is based on DIY. Thanks to member xollox for this great list, https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=51555

Just a few weeks later we became the first vendor to sell whoopie slings and as anyone can see it has just ballooned from there. Those threads changed many things in the hammock suspension world.
    +1 on that.

Another that is high on my list is one where, in his inimitable form, TeeDee mentioned using a Marlin Spike hitch as part of a hammock suspension, a toss-off reference buried in the middle of something else he was talking about. As his writing style is very dense, that posting went by without comment or evident notice on the MS hitch idea. But I'd learned to study his writings like an Egyptologist studies hieroglyphics, grokked what he was saying, and started to promote it. The MS hitch is probably is the biggest impact idea he brought (among many) to HF.

I really enjoyed the early posts on UQs, when the discussions of baffles and differential cuts, darts and pleats were blossoming. There is some real interesting history back in those threads. If you ever wanted to know where your UQ designs germinated from, take a look.

There are some great posts by some great minds - TiredFeet, Grizz, Schneiderlein, Youngblood, WarBonnetGuy, TeeDee and many other 'oldtimers' really made some amazing contributions-

    TeeDee's Karo Step Quilt

This may have been mentioned, or at least alluded to, but this thread is worth pointing out again. It introduced me to karo step quilt construction. I like the clear instructions and great illustrations, but also TeeDee's explanations of why he made a number of design decisions.

Absolutely agree with this one. Still reference them to this day.

I also love PapaSmurf's attached bugnet hammock tutorial. Excellent.
