Arrow Utility Constrictor Rope (UCR) Guide List

Just wanted to put together some of the threads and videos that demonstrate how to construct Utility Constrictor Ropes for suspensions and Adjustable ridge lines.

First on the list is the earliest post I could find on UCRs and I think this might be the person who introduced UCRs to the hammock community.(Not sure)

    Nice tutorial, and UCR compilation.
I made some 7/64" ucrs and used a 6" bury just like I did on my whoopies a they slipped on me. I was asleep for about an hour and all of a sudden I was on the ground! I never felt myself moving, I just felt the stop when I touched the ground, it was pretty gentle. Happened again about an hour later so then I put two half hitches in the tail and they held the rest of the weekend but I think I'm gonna have to remake them with an extra inch of bury!
    Good luck,

That happened to me with my first set, thought I could get away with shorter constrictors, worked for me as well as it did for you. I just pulled it out and redid it a bit longer, works great now. I also didn't fully milk that bury the first couple times. Now it's a half second slide of the hand, haven't fallen again yet... I like how they're easier to adjust under the load of the hammock and quilts, especially when it gets close to the ends of the line. Been using them for many months now and am quite happy with them.

Yeah, I find them easier to adjust than whoopies too. I don't love the longer minimum length of UCR's but that's easily overcome when needed. I'll reconstruct these or make some new and see how they go. The milking is already second nature, I don't even think about it, I just do it.
    Good luck,

Yeah been getting away with 8" (1/8"amsteel) of bury for awhile now. But I have a nice tight taut line hitch on it also. I had one slip alittle the other day so I am going to remake alot of my UCRs alittle longer. Starting to get scared that I will be out on a trip and my UCRs will start slipping and leave me on the ground. It sucks that it will add more inches to my minimum tree span but its better than landing on the ground in the middle of the night.

I realy like UCRs fortheir weight and fkrtheir compactability, but I do not recommend them for the beginner due to the fiddle factor. Whoppies are, in my opinion easier to learn on and work great for most pople. Thanks for putting this together.

Love my 1/8" Amsteel UCRs with 12" buries. Sleep comes easy with the feel of strength and security in the system.
