    Big and Tall Hammock

Hey all, My favorite DIY hammock wandered off at my last group camp. I want to get something commercial before I have time to make a new one.

I'm 6'6" and 270 lbs. I like to lay as flat as possible.

I would like it to be 4 season (think MN winters) I have an under-quilt, but if there's a good package price, I may consider another.

Price is not much of a concern, as long as the quality justifies it.

I'd love to hear from some of the other Sasquatches like myself use and recommend.

    Thanks for your time.

    Re: Big and Tall Hammock

If I only wanted to own one hammock it would be a simple gathered end job with a seperate bugnet I.e. bias hammock and nano buginator or a dream hammock freebird and bug sock, can't really recommend any though because all my hammocks have been diy so far.

I am a little shorter than you, and I love my Dream Hammock Dangerbird. I have slept in it about seven nights and I get a flat lay with little stretch on the double layer model. Contact Papa Smurf and see what he can do. He is sensitive to what us big guys need for a comfortable hang.

an 11' hammock is going to allow for a flatter more comfortable sleeping position.
My personal choice is the Wilderness Logics Night Owl.

I really like my Warbonnet Blackbird 1.7oz. double layer. I'm 6' tall and when I started hammock camping I weighed just over 300 lbs. (I've lost close to 40 lbs. since I started hanging). It's very comfy, keeps the bugs off of me and has proven to be durable over the long haul. The double layer holds me well and I like the option to put a pad in. My underquilt is rated to 20F but with a thermarest and extra clothing I've slept comfortably down to -11F. It'll keep bugs out in the summer and cold out in the winter so it does well here in Minnesota.
