Please help me decide: WB Traveler and Edge versus WL Snipe and Tad Pole

I've read as much as I can on here and watched Shug's video on the Snipe and Blazeaway's video comparing the Traveler and Snipe.

I've narrowed it down to these two but also really considered the BIAS Weight Weenie and the Simply Light Designs Tree Runner SL.

Money isn't really a concern but who doesn't like to get the best deal?

Here's the breakdown that I see.

They both make excellent products and have great customer service from what I've read. I've had a Blackbird and a Ridgerunner which were made great but they just didn't work for me. I've read where a few people liked the Traveler over the Blackbird. I also really like how the Edge is made compared to the Tad Pole. Although the Snipe is listed as one foot longer, I saw where someone said that that measurement is pre-gather. Blazeway's video looks like it substantiates this information.

The Warbonnet combo is $156 shipped minus the $10 combo rebate.

    Pluses: Cheaper
    Ridgeline included in price.
    Lighter by about four ounces.
I like the grosgrain ridgeline and metal attachment points of the Edge tarp.
I would get the webbing suspension that I would use on a backyard hammock and get a new whoopie suspension from Dutchware.

Negatives: Doesn't have Knotty mod. but I think I should be able to add this.

The Wilderness Logics combo with triloop option is $200 shipped.

    Pluses: Knotty mod. already installed.
Both are available in my favorite color for hammocks: black.
May have a flatter lay since it is 1.5 mm thick and is a little bit longer.

Negatives: Opposite of all of the Traveler's Pluses.

Ok, forget the advice, I've convinced myself after writing this up.

The Warbonnet combo seems like a no brainer for me!

I really didn't need to post this but I've already spent so much time on it. Hopefully this will help someone else trying to decide between these two setups.

Well I like my warbonnet gear and wouldn't change it but if you didn't have good luck with the blackbird or ridgerunner I was going to suggest switching up.
But looks like you've already decided.

I ordered a Traveler about four weeks ago and it has yet to ship. There is a 3-4 week hold time posted on the WB page so keep that in mind if you need something soon. I have a DIY now so I've been able to get out, but boy am I ready to string that Traveler up!

I don't know about the tarps you mention but I have/had all the hammocks in your list. By far, my favorite is the Snipe. Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

Ug, it's stuff exactly like this that makes me second guess.

First instincts are usually the right one.

WB makes superb gear. There's no reason to second guess.

If you decide you want the traveler and can't wait the four weeks or so to get one, I have an unused 1.7sl I could be persuaded to part with. It's got whoopies on it however...Bush

Isn't the Traveler pretty similar lay-wise to a BB, just without the bugnet?

According to Warbonnet, there's no difference in the lay. See posts #2 and #3 in this old thread:
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=12761

But some people do like the traveler over the bb... they don't seem to care for the shelf and footbox reducing the outside visibility, or something like that.

I have 2 Wb Blackbirds and a WL Lite Owl. My Lite Owl is far more comfortable. The extra 12" gives me a substantially flatter lie. I would guess you would find a similar comparison between the Traveler and the Snipe.

    Good Luck
