I used mine last January at the New Jersey hang when it got to be 4 degrees above zero.
That is the only time I ever used it, as my underquilt has been enough at least down to 30 degrees F.

Without an underquilt I use mine pretty often. Unless it is actually hot out, I say it is just cozier with it.

You need to see how much insulation the empty saddle bags and second, loose layer of fabric provide. Estimates vary widely between people.

I see this is a few months old and the op has probably gotten his/her answer, but i thought I'd chime in.

I just did a few days in the wilderness with my NX 250 and it got down to the mid 40s. I was testing the pockets by themselves, and I was pretty warm with just a hoodie and army field jacket on. I did get CBS though because all I had on down on my southern half was a pair of sweat pants. But once I put a camp towel under my butt, I was good.

With the weathershield deployed (that thing is amazing BTW), I was fine with just a cheap 50 degree Wally bag on top of me.

I'm a very cold sleeper, and I've got a feeling I will be able to get down into the 20's with my Z liner with very little effort.

    .
Simple solutions like this work!! Go from no almost no insulation to just a slight insulating and perspiration-dispersing one, and you're comfortable. Same works well with bulky wool socks for the feet in the hmmk.
