Just talked with them and they do allow hammock camping as long as tree straps are used. the big concern is that some people using hammocks in the past inserted hooks into the trees.

Our boy scout is planning on camping there next weekend as part of a visit to DC and wanted to confirm their policy before arriving.
Wow! Someone actually screwed hooks into a tree. Shacking my head here. People amaze me.

Campsite area is nice, just very small. They really pack in the number of campsites so you are right on top of the next site.

Looks like lots of other scouts use this campground as a base to go into Washington DC. Location is good and price was right.

Rangers have no issues with hammocks as long as you use tree straps, but it took me about 15 minutes to find a couple of trees that worked. Glad I was the only one with a hammock on this trip.

My daughter and I frequently hammock camp at a state park near our home, but we always have to put up a tent on the site to satisfy the park rules. The tiny tent sits empty and no one ever goes in it, but we always are told "just put a tent up so the site looks occupied"! Whatever!

Hard to believe such an intelligent ranger could tell that a Superfly isn't a tent...
