I'm not worried about weight savings either, just curious to see if I like them better.

Is anyone using UCR's made from Dynaglide?

I think this would make a great poll! I would start one, but I don't know how. I like statistics, specially hammock statistics

Don't get on here much anymore but for my vote, whoopies all the way...mostly because I already have them. As far as weight savings goes, when I converted to dynaglyde that took care of most the savings I was after. I've never, ever, ever had a problem adjusting my whoopies, unless someone was laying in the hammock...in which case I prolly shouldn't have been trying to adjust it anyway. I can see the draw to UCR's but if you are already happy with your set up...tinker away!

Less cordage laying dangling or on the ground is always neater, whatever the weight.
Per previous posts, the advantage of the whoopie is that the load shared on both legs of the loop tends to automagically tighten the constrictor, with or without deliberate milking to distribute the load (a little).

With the UCR, a back-up hitch is highly recommended to prevent slipping.

I've only used UCR's as they looked simpler, lighter and less tangly.
I've found they sometimes want to slip even with the orings on the end. I suspect orings on both sides of the bury with help with this. I always add a good 3+ slippery half hitches to lock them off as I'm paranoid. Right now mine are WAYYYY too long. I had no idea how long to make them so each end has a good 10+ feet of slack I need to trim back.

I should probably carry a splicing tool. For amsteel, lash-it and mason line I've always used some very fine nichrome wire I have which works great for me. A few feet wrapped around something in my kit would be imperceptible.

I've made some a while back, converted to the dark side from amsteel whoopies and I like them a lot. Sure you need to be a bit more mindful and milk the bury, but who's in a hurry when you're out in a hammock?

The fiancé loves her whoopies, the diameter looks sturdier so she feels safer. I like to live dangerously. Mine are larks-headed to the end of my tree straps and i just clip them to dynaglide dog bones that are larks-headed through the end channels of my hammock. i use a carabiner right now but I'm getting some carbon toggles soon, cant wait! I'm 150 and they work perfectly, put a prussik knot on the free end to keep it from slipping and you should be fine. I haven't had mine slip yet
