VA, 3rd Annual Grayson Highlands Fall Festival, Sept 27-30. I'm ready to join you all

Please reply with more details about this event. I am a hammock camper for the past five years and really enjoy meeting new people in various states for their local and regional hangs. Hope to hear from you.

Once you enter Grayson Highlands State Park, the second paved road to the right leads to the campground. Group site is immediately past the country store. Parking adjacent to left of store and in front of restrooms and at the hikers parking lot just after turn off to campground. If you are coming, when you get to the park entrance station, let them know you are with the Hammock Forums group - no cost to camp.

If others need driving directions, we'll post the two most common routes a little closer to the date.

Look at Slowhike's post #9 for reports from last 2 years. Pics are buried in reports. This event started when Slowhike had an idea that the fall festival would be a good hang. He was right.
Friday is setup day. Tarp goes up - 20'x40'. 4 tables aligned. Cook gear laid out for saturday breakfast. Group cook for breakfast - several cooks and much food. Clean up. Send crew to Festival grounds to set up hammock displays and man site for demonstrations. Rotate folks all day. Go to festival for music and old time mountain living events. Many craft vendors on site. Go by Pony pen to check out ponies for sale Saturday afternoon. Bring trailer if buying pony. Go hiking in Grayson Highland, Mt Rogers, etc. Buy crafts, sit and listen to bluegrass and mountain music all day, watch apple butter cooking, blacksmith, molasses cooking, b-b-q for lunch. Sit and rest. Cooks start Saturday evening meal. Dinner by 6-6:30. Big camp fire. RAFFLE we hope. More music - we have pickers in the group sometimes. Dead tired - Hammock bliss. Sunday fix your own breakfast. tear down by noon. Visit festival again - goes to late Sunday. Go hike. THIS year - stay over until Monday at no charge.

Anybody else got something I missed, please add.

Will be looking forward to meeting another new face. Come prepared to have an enjoyable weekend - provided it doesn't rain - again!
