    KAQ or Yeti

Well in anticipation of ordering my blackbird I was also thinking about possibly just breaking down and finally getting a professional UQ. I was looking pretty closely at the KAQ because of the price until I was looking at brandon's page and found out that the yeti is only 5 bucks more. Now I'm rather undecided which I want to order with my BB when I get that mula.

The Yeti is down so it's going to be lighter and stow smaller. And that's not taking into account that it's a torso (little longer) length UQ, so smaller and lighter again. If you plan to hike any distances I would say Yeti. Having said that, I'm anxiously awaiting an announcement about a BB KAQ!

I'm assuming you still need a 1/3 pad or so with the yeti for your feet correct? could I probably just get away with using my 10"x8" ccf sitpad?

No, something like a Gossamer Gear sit pad at a minimum

Guess it depends how tall you are and what your tolerances are with the cold. The Yeti is a little longer than my torso (I'm 6' and wear a large size pack). I used a sit pad that was about 14x10". I find the footbox of my quilt does a pretty good job of keeping my feet OK as long as they are getting warm blood. When I'm carrying a small pad for insulation, it goes under my calves.

I usually carry a 1/8" GG pad folded over and put under my legs. Provides plenty of coverage, gives me an extra layer if I unfold when it gets really cold, and is very light for the warmth.

It seems to be just over 3 feet long which means probably about 3 1/2' or so are covered on the diagonal I'm assuming. I'm only about 5'6" so I could get away with a pretty darn small pad I'm thinking.

Probably, just carry a back-up when you test.
