    Question Claytor Jungle Questions

Does the Jungle hammock have any tie outs on the side of the hammock?
Does your body size determine how far the sides spread?
Do the sides rub right up against you, making it confining?
How small does it pack down?
Can you sleep in it without the netting zipped?
How is the overall quality of this hammock?

    Thanks in advance

    I can hear neo already...

I haven't used this model, but I have several others that don't have side tie-outs. The sides don't make it confining at all, but sometimes they hang down and get flappy. No big deal - I still think my homemade ones are more comfortable than my HH Backpacker.

Edit - HAHA - he beat me to it! Neo - I edited the quotes so it's easier to tell what you wrote and what you were quoting.
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story

    More questions

I knew Neo would be one of the first with a response.

I have had a HH Explorer Deluxe for years and it is very wide. Just seems to me that inside the Claytor may be like being down inside a tub. With my HH I can turn to the side and see right out under the fly to look around, can this be done with the Claytor?

It also seems that you can hang your hammock lower to the ground and set up your fly to reduce wind. While in the HH I need to set up higher so I can sit down and back into the hammock.
    Is this true?

I also have a Jungle Hammock. I have never noticed any problems looking out the sides. I prefer the top entry and especially like the double bottom which hold all pads in place. I feel the quality is top notch. I've never tried a Hennessy but the bottom entry doesn't appeal to me and neither does the inability to unzip the netting.

You can set it up as low as you want. Why couldn't you do that in a Hennessy?

I am 6'4" and setting up realy low and sliding in through the end is just not very easy/ fun to do during a 3 am nature call especially while raining.
It does seem to me that dropping in through the top would be easier.

2XL, I find a low HH not very fun to get in either but Its not a problem for me. I am short so low and high are totally different from my point of view. Well shorter than 6'4". Also it depends on the tarp you fly. The Neo tarp I have lessens the coverage the lower I hand. I would assume that to happen with any diamond shape tarp. I am changing tarps soon to a MacCat or I will try and make my own as per Blackbishops instructions.

It's the main reason I like a top loader. For the life of me I can't figure why anyone would want to craw in and out of a hammock from the bottom.

I have a Speer-type as well as a Hennessy. When I use my Speer-type, I hang a little lower. When I'm in my Hennessy, I hang a little higher. It's all good as long as I'm off the ground. Both are comfortable. I don't understand the confusion. Isn't it just a matter of preference?

I think both top and bottom entry can have their advantages in different situations. In most cases I prefer my top entry homemade for sake of convenience, but I can imagine some hanging situations in which the bottom entry would be nicer.
