Claytor Jungle Questions

I think both top and bottom entry can have their advantages in different situations. In most cases I prefer my top entry homemade for sake of convenience, but I can imagine some hanging situations in which the bottom entry would be nicer.

Such as? I can't think of any situation where it would be nicer for me. Of course I agree, it's a matter of preference. For me a top loader is just soooo much more convenient for just about anything such as laying out things inside it, exit/entry and just reaching out to retrieve something I've forgotten. I love to hang out with a drink by the fire and set my drink on the ground.....pretty tough to do in a bottom entry. I could go on...

Accessibility from inside the hammock is an issue with the HH-style closed top, not necessarily the bottom entry itself. I do agree - I like to be able to get to stuff...I sit in my hammock to cook, for instance. Then again, the closed top also has its advantage - complete bug protection.

As far as a situation in which having a bottom entry would be helpful, I was thinking of some of the more hairy sites one might have to deal with. If there's a lot underbrush or medium- to large-sized rocks around (unavoidable, of course), hanging higher and using a bottom entry would definitely be the way to go. Just a example.
