It'll work OK, but is heavier, bulkier and has less strength than other lines. Could turn your tent stakes into missles in a high wind situation too. Also, i thought i read here on HF that bungee cord will stretch out but not contract when temps are very low in winter.
On some tarps (silnylon) I'll tie a loop of bungee to the tarp tieouts then tie a lighter weight guyline made of dyneema to the bungee loops. Some just use mason's line if you don't mind a bit of stretch.
There are lots of other solutions for getting a bit of tensioning into your guylines.
