    Travelsafe travel hammock

Here's an interesting one: while browsing the camping section in a hiking store, I came across the TravelSafe Travel Hammock. I don't think I've heard that name before. Turns out it's a Dutch company that sells insect repellents, mosquito nets and first aid kits.
The concept is similar to Hennessy: hammock with integrated bug net and a rain fly, all sold as one package. The package was pretty small and pretty minimalist, and the price is definitely right: about $75.
Google led me to their site:
    http://www.travelsafe.nl/assortiment...ravel-hammock/

630 grams (750 according to other sources) and $75 is certainly not bad if it's a decent hammock... which is of course a big if. It's almost certainly a simple gathered end design, not asym, and the 630g almost certainly doesn't include tree straps. It may not even include suspension.

When I went to their site and clicked on the English version of the site I noticed the technical info on the hammock did not display.

Yes, that's why I linked the Dutch version. I guess this is a relatively new product and they haven't gotten around to translating the product page yet. (The company is Dutch).
I'm really happy that new companies are getting into the tent-replacement-hammock game. These guys are doing it as an extension of their bug net business but I'm sure a couple of tent and hiking gear manufacturers will soon join the party as well.

That probably applies to all hammocks in this weight class. As an example, the HH hyperlite weighs a little more (765g) and has a lower weight limit (200 lbs).

    Hey JotM,

Have you tried it out already, and how do you like it?

I'm debating between this one, an Amazonas hammock with integrated netting, or a cheap decathlon hammock and buy netting separately...

(and I see we live in the same city! small world :P)

It looks to be very small! Only 220 cm long which is uncomfortably short. I would not suggest this hammock as I can't see one being comfortable. My recommendation is to find a hammock that is AT LEAST 3 meters long and 1.50 meters wide. Usually the longer the more comfortable. But the length might be influenced by your body height of course.

If you are on a budget, I suggest buying fabric yourself and creating a hammock. It's EXTREMELY easy. Then buy a seperate bugnet and you're done.
I keep learning and will never know enough.

Thought about that! But then I would have to get a sewing machine, mine broke... Maybe I'll just end up buying a bigger one. (like ticket to the moon or more than hip, both are I think 290 by 145. A lot of hammocks I see are 220 or 240 (some even smaller!), and I hardly ever saw ones of more than 3 meters. I also want it light!

edit: ticket to the moon are 320 by 150 apparantly, but also weigh 500 grams instead of 340...
