A lot of the cheaper hammocks seem to be smaller. That's propably the reason they are cheap.

You don't really need a sewing machine to create a hammock. I did this

With one change. I tied a knot at each end so my attachments wouldn't slide off. The fabric I used, although ripstop nylon, is coated with something that makes it slippery. Learned that the hard way .

If you want it light, buy a light fabric from, for example, extremtextil.de. I bought some black ripstop nylon 47g/sqm which is relativly lightweight and very nice. But do keep in mind your body weight. If you are heavy, you need a heavier fabric.
I keep learning and will never know enough.

Thanks! I'll look into that. I'm fairly light so that will be no problem With such light fabric I could have a big hammock for under 300 grams, awesome!

These hammocks pop up all over the place with different names. My guess is they are all the same from the same manufacturer in China and unfortunately appear to be of questionable quality and comfort.

As others have indicated make your own or as I always suggest, support our cottage vendors....they make some really great stuff.
