FWIW... the WB UQ's are also a "tight fit", but this is achieved by having very heavy duty rubber bands suspending two corners. It has give, but stays tight.

Think thick mountain bike inner tubes, etc.

The Lynx also owes it's tight fit to the series of carefully placed darts and dual differential cut shells. No DIY quilt made from a rectangle will ever match the fit.

Although, a great job by cpverne working with what was available cheaply. And it looks comfy for the warmer nights. I think you will LOVE the Lynx when you get one. I now have a full length and a 3/4 length Lynx. I believe they have the most advanced design of any UQ available.

I actually based the design of my PLUQ on the photos of the Lynx on the WB website, along with careful measurements of the hammock body. I have to say that the fit is pretty spot on, though I admit it's tough to look for gaps while laying in the hammock oneself. I have run my hands over the UQ while laying in it and don't feel any spots where there is a gap between the UQ and the body of the hammock. In fact, last weekend, I was hardpressed to get any breeze flowing between the quilt and the hammock, so I know it's a good fit.

There are no darts in the body of the Ridge Runner, so a PLUQ wouldn't need them. Simply folding the PL lengthwise gives a double layer rectangle of 31" x 82". 31" is the width of the Ridge Runner at the narrowest point, and 83" allows the quilt to cup up on the head and foot end to block any breeze if desired.

The next step is to sew in triangles to each corner to extend the head and foot ends to meet the corners. Sure, this ends up in a quilt that's technically not a rectangle, but even the Lynx down baffles are mostly in a rectangular configuration with simple triangles filling out the corners.

Great bridge UQ! I wouldn't call it a Lynx clone though. There are hidden details on the other side that would be very difficult for the DIY person to duplicate.

Again, good job on the RR PLUQ.

True.. Maybe I'll call it the Bobcat. It's the smaller of the two species.. If there is interest, I'll grab some screenshots from my drawings for the plans. %90 of the effort was in determining if I could actually make the quilt lengthwise.

Just came across this. Love my RR and Lynx. Cool looking DIY project, thanks for sharing (and if you ever are able to post specific drawings/plans, I'd be interested).

Bringing this thread back to life...I'd also be interested. I've got two PLs in the mail and my RR arrives tomorrow. I've got a lynx coming with it, so that'll be a fullsize cheat-sheet, but any plans that can be shared would be appreciated.
