I hate the repeat threads. They make me wretch. I read them and someone posts something funny and I laugh and then I spend 10 minutes trying to explain to my wife why it was funny and how it relates to hammocks and why the person or that is really awesome to help people and she just rolls her eyes and goes back to her game on the her smart phone.

It makes me look like a geek instead of the the highly evolved elevated perspective homosapian that I am.

It's something I've noticed and appreciate as a huge difference between HF and other forums... searching isn't always easy when you don't know the terms people are using or if you're having a hard time describing what you're trying to figure out... it's the community that keeps people coming back here.

I agree with this. I spent months trying to figure out terms and abbreviations! There is a whole new language to learn and sometimes the new vocabulary isn't sufficient to do a search.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

I have been using a camping hammock for over ten years. Some of us learned by trial and error since there wasn't a lot of information on the internet. Ed Speer's hammock camping group on Yahoo.com helped with the exchange of ideas and suggestions.

Today we have many more hammock users with more joining us each day. I can't imagine not sharing info with someone who wants to learn about hammocks. I continue to learn more and more. Who would have ever thought of Dutch clips, whoopie slings, adjustable ridge lines, etc. without the exchange of information? We owe it to our new members to answer their questions, no matter how many times they are asked.

Funny thing is Shug, 1/4 of the time it's you.
Every post that is not brushed off has the potential to lead to some great posts later. Maybe an amazing trip report from the same poster who only a short while ago didn't know their cinched ends from their whipped ends.

Hammock Forums has something I like and which my words can’t fathom.
Some of it is as Just Jeff so rightly has put it, openness to that “same old question.”
And then humor, some real good humor.
    And then of cause hammocks.
    Lovely hammocks.

Positive feedback from those who have learned from others.
We were all "newbies" at one point and have gleaned info that in turn we pass down to those behind us.

This forum rocks for a number of reasons, the mods, the people, the general attitude of the members, and of course hammocks.

As its been said over and over again. This is the best site on the interweb. Reading through the noob posts is fun because some one will drop a pearl of wisdom ( or Dutch gear ) that I'll want to explore. Another reasone I love HF. Those willing to help others they've never met before. From answering questions to " hey you can borrow this hammock/gear". Plus the random generosity of a donating member status or whatever.

Every member here is responsible for HF and I think it's in good hands.
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.
