    Tarp thoughts

    Hey,
I was wondering what your guys opinion of the JRB 11' x 10'? I don't see this tarp talked about very much on here and I was wondering why? How does it stack up to a superfly?

I have a JRB 11X10 and like it a lot. It's more of a winter tarp than a general use item. Wish it were a lot less in weight, but otherwise a good tarp.

Its a fine tarp. What is mostly talked about here are hex tarps with cat cuts which for the most part are lighter, less expensive and require 1 less pair of stakes and ties lines.

The JRB, however, is more multifunctional, and that's what justifies its weight and additional price. (if you use it that way, which most of us would not)

That JRB tarp is well made - so are all their products. I have one of their hex ones - in camo.

I bought the JRB 11x10 last year for use when my son and I are on a trip so our hammocks can be together under one tarp until he's a tad older. It's a pretty versatile piece of gear, though it may be on the heavy side for hiking when every gram is carefully considered... I'm a canoe camper, so it's less of an issue and I love the tarp...

I'm taking my JRB 11' x 10' tarp out this weekend for a camping trip with the boy-scouts. I like the coverage for a bridge hammock and have had no issues with it for the several years of use. The "Baker Style" pitch is nice.

I have carried it on long hikes before, but since I got a cuben HG winter tarp I've been spoiled when it comes to backpacking.

I sold a hex cut tarp and bought the JRB 11x10. I like the extra coverage of the rectangle. It is a little heavier and many hammockers seem to also be hikers so the weight is a factor. I like the configuration options of the JRB but actually very seldom use any but the normal rectangle hang. I also bought a smaller rectangular tarp to shave a little weight but always end up using the JRB. It's a keeper...
