    Question "New Hammocker"

I'd like to get in to hammock camping soon. I go backpacking with my friends a couple times a year, so weight is a concern, but not huge. The main thing is price. I don't know whats good, whats bad, where to buy or even what to buy. I was looking at ENOs or Byer of Maine, so if someone could help me out it would be much appreciated. On a $250 budget total, and I'm sure it can be done. Thanks

    Welcome

I'm sure you'll find lots of great info here. I went with Hennessy just because it was all there for me to get started with. Definitely under $250. Welcome to the forum.

    Byer of Maine

    Hello Cherring,

Byer of Maine has three options for hammock camping that will keep your overall weight down for backpacking.

Traveller Lite is the cheapest route, and is your most basic hammock.

Easy Traveller is the most popular Byer product for hammock camping. This hammock comes standard with the integrated Micro Rope hanging system. Here is a review from backpacker.com. http://www.backpacker.com/gear-zone-...ock/gear/14593

And you can now purchase a Traveller Double. This also comes with the attached hanging rope but has the S hooks not the Micro Rope system.

All options should fit into your budget. Comfortable, affordable, durable material in all. We have been around since 1880 and have always stood behind our product so you can count on great service after the sale.

Good luck with which ever product you get. I honestly have nothing bad to say about any of the other items out there. But since you mentioned Byer of Maine I thought I would put in my two cents.
