Hello everyone. Hanging noob here. Just purchased my first hammock a couple weeks ago (GT Nano7), got whoopie slings in the mail yesterday and trying to figure out how it all fits together... I love how informative the forum is and how helpful everyone is to each other. Never knew so much camaraderie existed between a group of people that I equated to professional relaxers! Amazing!
Anyways, I'm moving to Indonesia in 2 weeks for about a year and will be traveling and exploring parts of South East Asia as well. Since I have no idea where I'll be staying half the time I figured a hammock and bug net will be a great addition to my pack.
The Nano is so tiny, its amazing. From the info I gathered here, it seems like whoopie slings are the way to go and ditch the carabiners. I also got the whoopie hooks and have a couple rapp rings I can use from my rock climbing gear that I've seen people use. Still figuring out the best way to rig the whole deal and how the ridgeline should work... Is an adjustable ridgeline the way to go? Structural? I understand it's personal preference, however I have no experience to go off of... any tips would be greatly appreciated. Trying to go light, small but still relatively easy in regards to set-up. I still have a few more days to get all dialed in.
Hopefully be posting pictures of my set-up in the "field"...
Best,
Nick
