Question about the peapod and snugfit

I have a claytor Jungle hammock and at old rag mountain quilt as well as a 3/8 inch closed cell pad. I was out in what I would say was 25 degree weather a couple of nights ago and although I slept a few hours I was pretty cold- especially at around 3 or 4am. I was dressed in full motorcycling gear with thermals on the legs and 2 jackets on.

To ameliorate this cold I am looking for an underquilt although I have to say I was a little cold on top as the old rag mtn shifted around. I am 6'4" and 200lb. I need something that will work in all 4 seasons. Weight is unimportant but bulk is as I am on a bike.

What does the doctor order for a situation like this ?? And what are the pros and cons, Spear stuff looks good but no need to restrict your answer to these items.

One thing I have done with my claytor with great success is to attach my rain poncho underneath as a weathershield/taco. I have found this to be extremely effective in blocking the warmth robbing air from underneath. Since I am already carrying the poncho as my rain gear, it didn't add any extra weight. The basic idea I got from here:

Heh, you learn something new everyday. Thanks for expanding my vocabulary with ameliorate.

On subject though I know the jacks are going to start selling dri-ducks ponchos modified to double as a weathershield.

Among other thing you should not try to sleep in your riding gear it is damp from sensible and nonsensible sweat from the days ride....Also it takes up the room that would otherwise give you room to get proper coverage from your top quilt.

PS added.... Your Old Rag Mtn quilt will also work as an under quilt if bottom or side chill is the problem
