    Foot cramps

I don't know if others have this problem or not. But I seem to get cramps often when settling in my hammock. Sometimes in the arch and sometimes in the toes.

    Any suggestions

cramps are caused by many things. dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, exertion, conditioning, etc. Does it happen predictably? Do you only use your hammock while hiking or exerting yourself? Look for common denominators and it may guide you to the cause of your cramps. Jeesh, I'd make a good paramedic.....oh, I am one. :-)

I really don't think it is caused by the hammock. I think you are relaxed in the hammock and your feet are still pissed off at the day and tired out.

Not to mention the poor diets we indulge in.

I thought of a few more after I hit POST.
Circulation- calf ridge and/or feet too high above the head for too long?

Ok, maybe there is only one meaningful idea here. You pick.

    Foot cramps

Thanks for the feedback. I had heard that lack of potassium could be an issue. Sadly bananas don't sit well with me. I will look into this circulation idea. I do get the cramps in my regular bed as well but just not as often. The only consistant thing is when I am on my back. Like when in the hammock. At home I rotate more.

Gatorade if you can't tolerate bananas.

    Foot cramps

I'll give the gator juice a try. Hopefully the powder version will do the trick.

I got cramps in my feet, too. I felt it was because of the pressure put on one's feet or heels in a gathered end hammock. I switched to a bridge. Better now...

    Re: Foot cramps

Could be pressure on the knees. Try putting something under your knees, or bending them and lying slightly on your side...

I get cramps in my feet from time to time.

Try potatoes and avacado, they are both high in potassium. I have to be sure I keep my diet high in potassium, bananas, avacado and my precious potato are all high in potassium.

I have never been able to figure out why I get cramps in my feet. I can go months and months with no problem, then it starts, I have to get up and walk, cold floors or cold earth works the best for me. Sometimes I can press my feet against the end of the hammock or a wall and that works. If I start working on my feet as soon as I feel the cramp that seems to get rid of them sooner.

I get the feet cramps for no reason I can figure out. I do sleep with me feet elevated at home and that does not seem to cause me any ill effect, it helps my circulation.
