I'm really looking forward to get going, hoping to have the first stories to tell before april..

I think i'm going to carry a pad anyway, but a more or less DIY-quilt is most probably going to be added aswell
be it peapod formed or seperate Under(+over?)quilts .
I will to check the flea markets for some reusable downbags,quilts or whatever tomorrow

Concerning Pads, what would make an evazote pad stand out?
What makes you not hate the GossamerGear Pad for example Cannibal?

So it sounds like i really need to contact warbonnetguy and hammockwise
i'll probably rule out the simpler hammocks, unless my budget deflates.
Do i overlook anything important narrowing my hammock choice down to

Shug, JRB stuff appears to be wonderful, but unfortunately out of my pricerange.
I hope to find ways to use a simpler large tarp with some additional tieouts..
I'll reconsider DIY aswell, eventhough the running meter of sil costs between 5-15€ here ..

I like the GG pads because they don't make me sweat like the ccf pads do. That's my biggest reason by far. Other than that, they are kind of 'sticky' so the don't move around in the hammock; they come in 3 different thicknesses so I can take what I need; they squish down pretty good for a pad; they are very light; and pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things.

You can get good sized tarps that are inexpensive, but they aren't going to be sil and will therefore be heavier. For that matter, one of those cheapo tarps you see on peoples' roofs would work just fine for keeping you dry. It will be noisy, bulky, and heavy but it will work.

I don't think that the Claytor hammocks are going to give you the room that you want, but that could just be a personal observation. I have one and like it, but it's not the roomiest hammock in the land.

The Claytor systemTarp/Hammock is a comfy reliable well made kit very impressive and reasonably priced with no added taxes fingers crossed.
The DD is a little smaller than the Claytor but a tad wider it represents outstanding value for your hard earned and you can get a complete outfit from DD - tarp,hammock,underblanket etc.
I have no experience of Ed Speers hammocks at present.
The Clark a little pricey but probably worth every penny once again not tried norsen one.
If the price is ok for you with the bizarre currency conversion at the moment,the Blackbird should be pecking on your window.
They are all good choices no turkeys in your list.
The folk here will point you in the right areas.

To mention the tarp on the Jungle Claytor set up gives good hammock coverage but not suitable for living under.Its a nice tarp that I really like I think you will need a larger one.Once again larger tarps can be found from Claytor,Speer ' Winter tarp',DD possibly best for cheapest ,largest on average.

Grizz had a thread on a "poor mans hammock hut" where he used a tarp and closed the ends.

Hammocking lends itself to "mix and match" so don'thesitate to take one from column A and two from column B
