I have a 45# golden-doodle that goes hiking with me. I carry a small CCF mat that we use to sit on by the fire and then at bedtime she will lay on it if she gets cool. If she gets cold she will climb up into the hammock with me to warm up. At night I keep her leashed to keep her from wondering off at night.

I wish my boy could climb in with me but at 110lb and constantly "on guard" I would never get any rest.

I had an Australian shep that was less trouble than my cat! Its not the weight, its their position, movment, shuffle, checking-things-out and general life in the night. Zeph (the dog) curled up tight and was done. Best camping dog you could imagine--flurry of raccoons only caused a raised heat. Current mini schnauz Buzz has got to investigate everything, and Stinky the cat, the absolute worst...wants to be on top, wants to check things out, want back on, wants to...

Ya by "on guard" I was refering to his natural Rottie dislike of things not me LOL. And with the two of us I think we would be close to the rating on my Blackbird. He sleeps on the ground! He does get a ccf pad as his hair is really short.

    Good luck with the dog

I tie a 20' section of utility cord under my hammock with a pair if descender ring runners that I clip my dogs leashes to. They do their own thing. My little one will get in the hammock if its really cold.
