I wonder whether this TurtleLady/Dog setup could be brought to around 2.5 lbs and 26" packed by using carbon fiber tent poles and the cable braces of the DD stand? Like so:

I don't think the DD (formerly HandyHammock) stand struts are going to be rigged enough for that design. They are meant to be handle a lot of compressive force which is why they need to angled and anchored the way they are.

Probably a dumb question since no one else asked it but why does the center post need to be shifted down when attached to the hinge? They're all cut the same length, why not have them all attached at the same height?

another zombie reply to a post, but noticed nobody answered you when I was grabbing this link for a friend here at work. That keeps you from having to cut an angle in the top of the middle piece so it can open out - the two side uprights have to rotate inward when you set it up, so if the middle piece was all the way to the top, it would prevent that. An alternative is to put the middle bar on the outside of the hinge, but then the setup doesn't lay flat when folded up.

There was a comment earlier that he hadn't cut any angles in any of the three - that's partly what they were referring to.

no pics to help describe it here at work- hope this makes sense..

So tarp over the ridgepole or under the ridgepole? Just curious, for a project I'm working on. Thanks.

My tarp for my Turtle Dog Stand has LineLoc 3’s attached to the tarp ends.
I insert “S” hooks in the ends of the top rail and then 2.5mm line to the LineLok’s
All this goes under the top rail which is 13’ long.
