Maybe I missed it, but what are these used for in this build?
•3/8" x 3" eye bolts (x2)
•3/8" fender washers (x2)
•3/8" locknuts (x2)

Or you could just hang the ridge pole using continuous loops.. I did it both ways and like the loops better.
I made my turtledog stands blue to match my orange&blue hammock -- Go Gators! I used 12" circular amsteel that I ordered from Dutch (nice colors, low prices and fast shipping!) to hold the fence rail. I have some blue cord for the legs but I'm not sure how long that needs to be between each leg.... maybe 2'???
This was so much fun building!!!
Are you attaching your main hammock suspension to the shackle on the rail end cap? Personally I would never trust the end cap as the load bearing point of the hammock. It is a cheap cast part and most likely would be the weak point in the whole system. If I was hanging outside, I would use the end cap to attach my tarp.
Yes, that's what I was planning to do. In my setup, where should I attach the hammock?
I am looking for a photo, but start by moving the tripods a couple of inches closer so that you have an inch or two between the end cap and the tripod suspension. Loop the hammock suspension around the ridge pole in that couple of inches. The one photo I saw from a google search also showed several more loops on the tripod suspension, sort of like a modified prussic knot. I would not get rid of the end cap. It will protect you and your hammock from the rough ends of the ridge pole. And it will make a great tarp attachment point if needed.

Thank you, i'll try that!
I found the leg spacing for me to be around 3 feet. It felt real stable and less tippy. For me 2 feet was too close and I would collapse the TD when I got out of the hammock. Others have gotten good results with 2'. I would play around with spacing till you find your sweet spot, then measure it and lock it down.
I just bought a DD/HandyHammock stand because I want to bicycle through treeless places. Compact, low-weight is a big draw. The DD stand is genius in its cable bracing for the main struts, but you've got to carry and drive 12 stakes all told, which isn't always feasible nor fast nor light as ideal. I wonder whether this TurtleLady/Dog setup could be brought to around 2.5 lbs and 26" packed by using carbon fiber tent poles and the cable braces of the DD stand? Like so:
