    Repair Help

I won't go into the act of stupidity that led to the need for a repair but suffice it to say I am ashamed.

I have a rip in the bottom layer of my 1.1 double layer BB that goes from side to side of the nylon right in the middle. Yes the rip goes completely from one side to the other. Don't ask.

I would appreciate any suggestions on the best way to reapir this rip.

    Thanks for your help.

Do you use the double layer to hold a pad or because you need it for additional weight support?

If you can't sew, I'd send back to Brandon for a repair.

I need the double layer for both a pad and the extra support for weight.

Have sewing capability but looking for best way to reinforce the rip. Should I use a grosgrain strip to hold the two sides of the rip together or just sew the two sides back together after folding over for strength?? other thoughts?

I put a hole in both layers and double patched both. It has held for the time being. Speaking with Brandon in the past he did say the repair will most likely fail in the future just because of strain on the material is not intact one piece anymore

I would worry about a failure. The threads around the rip are stressed, I think no matter how you strengthen the rip, the fabric will fail again. I guess you could go crazy and do a quilting action on both the top and bottom lay of the hammock. You probaby need to recycle the hammock. Sorry.

I really don't think that there would be a good repair, other than replacing the damaged ripstop. I would also recommend, as did Bubba, send it back to Brandon/Warbonnet, or atleast give him a call and get his advise. I have a ripstop stuff sack from my camo SF that is showing signs of coming apart at the seams. I have skins on the tarp, and it's a tight fit, so I really have to stuff it into the sack. I think it's going to just be a matter of time before it bust at the seam. On a hammock, with much more stress, you asking for a failure, especially with the tear size your describing........RR
